BEINGS.

According to Muhammadan belief, there are three different species of created intelligent beings: (1) Angels (Mala’ikah), who are said to be created of light; (2) Genii (Jinn), who are created of fire; (3) Mankind (Insan) created of earth. These intelligent beings are called Zawu ‘l-Uqil, or “Rational beings,” whilst unintelligent beings are called Ghair Zawi ‘l-‘Uqul Hayawani-Natiq is also a term used for rational beings (who can speak), and for all irrational creatures.
