KHUDAWAND خداوند
A Persian word, signifying, “lord,” “prince,” “master.” A possessor: a man of authority. It is used as a title of the Deity, and by Christian missionaries in India it is generally employed as a translation of the “Lord.” In the Ghiyasu ‘l-Lughah, it is derived from Khuda, “God”; and wand, “like”, i.e. one like unto God.
