It is frequently enjoined in the Qur'an. e.g.:- Surah iv. 20: "If they repent and amend let them be. Verily God is he who relenteth. He is merciful." Surah xxiv. 32: "Be ye wholly turned to God, O ye believers, and it shall be well with you."
