RESIDUARIES. Arabic ‘asabah عصب
pl. ‘asabat. According to Muslim law, residuaries in their own right are divided into four classes:-
(1) The offspring of the deceased.
(2) The ascendants (such as father, grandfather, &c).
(3) The offspring or his father, viz, the brothers and their descendants.
(4) The offspring of his grandfather. (Syed Ameer Ali’s Personal Law, p. 49.) [INHERITENCE.]
