SAFIYAH. صفية
One of the wives of Muhammad. She was the widow of Kininah, the Jewish chief of Khaibar, who was cruelly put to death. In after years it is said Muhammad wished to divorce her, but she begged to continue his wife, and requested that her turn might be given to ‘Aylshah, as she wished to be one of the Prophet’s “pure wives” in Paradise.
