Sijdah. Lit. “Prostration,”
(1), The act of worship in which the person’s forehead touches the ground in prostration. [PRAYER.]
(2) As-Sajdah, the title of the xxxiind Surah of the Qur’an, in the 15th verse of which the word occurs: “They only believe in our signs who, when they are reminded of them, fall down adoring and celebrate the praises of their Lord.”
